Leaving a career in big corporations to join the startup world

Stephanie graduated from Mechanical Engineering and used to work for big corporations. She realized that, in her domain, innovation was hard to implement. She decided to do Le Wagon program to learn new technical skills to help kickstart her career in Montreal's tech startup world.
Summary
« Not being afraid to follow your intuition, being able to change your life when you are not satisfied with it and always follow your gut, is what I learned. You’re gonna be happier in the end. »

Stephanie Savoie is a backend developer at Surmesur. After working for three big corporations as a mechanical engineer, she felt she needed a change in her life.

« I didn’t like their ways and felt a bit like I was trapped. Learning how to code seemed like the kind of perfect opportunity and it was well timed. »

At Le Wagon, she enjoyed the most the two week project - the last weeks of the bootcamp - while working with a group of three or four people.

« It’s really a time where you put everything you learn together. You make an an amazing project and that experience was really valuable and something I bring with me every day to my job. »

What I like the most about my new lifestyle is the fact that I can work from anywhere: a coworking space, at home or by the beach!
